Antigua & Barbuda is signatory to at least two bilateral investment treaties with the United Kingdom and Germany. Both expressly forbid expropriation or nationalisation of their nationals' property without prompt and fair compensation.
Antigua & Barbuda receives aid under the US Caribbean Basin Initiative and the United Kingdom's Department for International Development, as well as assistance from the Canadian Government.
Antigua & Barbuda is now in breach of the Caribbean Basin Initiative and regulations that govern other supranational and government investment/trade agencies.
